"And murder is forbidden. Animals that kill people must die, and any person who murders must be killed. Yes, you must execute anyone who murders another person, for to kill a person is to kill a living being made in God's image."
Does this mean God would approve of the death penalty?

Well first of all what is murder? is it simply killing because we kill animals and God had the Hebrews kill other nations. In Matthew ch 5 Yeshua says If you have hate for your brother you have already committed murder in your heart. so its very possible that murder isn't just killing someone but when kill someone with a hateful intent. if you accidentally kill someone, like you were in a wreck that's not really murder. and if you kill in war, that's not murder its war fare. so the death penalty wouldn't be murder but punishment if they are guilty of a punishment such as death.

Note: This was written before the law, therefore was not abolished with the law. The death penalty is not revenge and not done out of anger but God's way of protecting His children. "If just retribution is not taken by God or by human government, violence and chaos will reign in society.
