It says "his [God] anger can flare up in an instant." Reading this bothered me because it sounds unpredictable and unsettling-me fearing to fail or anger him.

WE should Fear God all the time. God is a loving God, but he executes Judgment when his anger is kindled. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. He wiped out Pharaoh. we should fear God by keeping his commandments. Yeshua said, if you love me keep my commandments.

I'm still confused about what God allows from us regarding anger.

we can get angry but get over it before a new day starts. and according to the bible a new day starts at sundown.
